So, I’m back up on the net. It’s been a few years since chaplainfisher.com expired and mostly, I’ve just been lurking all over Facebook and doing things like: changing my Endorser, going to CPE, getting my doctorate (an event that is going to plague me for the next couple of years during my dissertation so you’ll probably hear more than you want to know about it, should you care to read), having kids and moving around the country. Literally. I’ve moved FOUR times (from Savannah, GA to Huntsville, AL, to Tacoma, WA, to Leavenworth, KS) in that time. Yeah. Four. I’m starting to wonder if all this movement is actually good for my family. Maybe at best it’ll have a net washout effect.
I stopped blogging because my theological views were becoming *gasp* moderate, my political views following suite and I have having a hard time keeping that from those that read my blog. True story - my last endorser never, one time, came to see me or check up on me in the four years I was endorsed by them and I breathed the phrase, “I am more open and ecumenical in my theological views” and the next thing I know, I’ve got two senior level retired chaplains coming to see me for a face-to-face interview to establish, once again, my fundamental orthodoxy. True story. I’ll have to write about it sometime.
But here I am. Back again. I suppose my views (which I’ve been coming to for years now) might be a real “test of friendship” for some readers but I beg grace. I’m a happy moderate/progressive type of guy. I do confess to getting exasperated by extremes on either side of debates and when folks get unreasonable and mean. That does touch a nerve in me - if you can live with who I am, I invite you to stay with me, enjoy the ride and experience what it’s like for a guy like me to live in our nation and serve this country!
Cheers!
